Cyclops Industries celebrates 60th anniversary

Wednesday, June 19 2019

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Cyclops Industries marked 60 years in business with a Diamond Anniversary celebration. The event was held Wednesday, June 19, at the company’s manufacturing facility in South Charleston.

When engineer Gene LeRoy founded Cyclops in 1959, he had a vision of producing sight safety glass that would not blow out if broken even while under extreme pressure at high temperature. The company is now led by LeRoy’s granddaughter and Cyclops President Kim Mack.

“We look back with pride on the rich tradition and history that our grandfather started,” Mack said. “We look forward to continuing our service well into the future.”

In addition to Mack, other speakers at the celebration included South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens; a representative from the office of Senator Joe Manchin; a representative from the office of Senator Shelley Moore Capito; President of the Charleston Area Alliance Matt Ballard: President of the West Virginia Manufacturing Association Rebecca McPhail; RCBI Director of Manufacturing Services Arlie Carpenter; West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Vice President John Canfield; and Pastor Jeff Davenport with the First Baptist Church of Hurricane.

Cyclops designs and manufactures safety sight glasses, viewport assemblies, sight flow indicators, spray rings, sight lights and sight glass replacements.

The company’s products are sold in markets around the world. Over the past several years, Cyclops has received the Governor’s Commendation for International Market Entry for exporting to countries from Argentina to Vietnam.
