Gov. Justice Announces Additional Land and Water Conservation Grant Awards for Brooke and Marshall Counties

Wednesday, November 28 2018

WHEELING, WV - Today, Gov. Jim Justice awarded an additional two Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grants for community outdoor recreation development and open space preservation in Brooke, Marshall, Ritchie and Wood Counties. The LWCF program is housed within the Community Advancement and Development Division of the West Virginia Development Office.

The projects awarded include:

  • Brooke County Commission: The $50,000 grant will support the Brooke Hills Park Spraypool. The new facility’s improvements to the pool include a waterslide, new bathhouse, new concessions building and a zero-depth pool entry.
  • City of Moundsville: The $92,811 grant award will allow for the completion of weatherization and ADA improvements at the Four Seasons Pool in the City of Moundsville’s Evan Roberts Recreational Complex. Upgrading this indoor/outdoor swimming pool will help sustain and improve aquatic recreational opportunities for residents of the entire Upper Ohio Valley area on a year-round basis.
